After purchasing a managed WordPress hosting plan on MagicPress, a new client asked our experts to migrate their website to our platform. We understand that migrating a WordPress website from one host to another can be a very frustrating process for most people, so free migration is included in our plans.

We are always curious to see how websites perform on our platform compared to others, so the first thing we do before migrating a website is to run a report on WebPagetest. This analyzes the current website speed and provides insight on what can be improved. The result of the analysis before migration was the following:

Load Time First Byte Start Render Size
34.311s 1.843s 5.376s  12.6MB

It seems that there is a lot of room for improvement.

It is worth mentioning that our client did not use an inexpensive, subpar hosting service, but a powerful VPS with cPanel.

The next step was to transfer the website to MagicPress and run the report again:

Load Time First Byte Start Render Size
22.174s 0.375s 5.235s  11.1MB

Note that we did not make any optimizations to the actual website. The difference in page size is attributed to gzip compression, which was not enabled in the previous host. Nonetheless, the result of the comparison is impressive considering there are almost 50 files for CSS and JavaScript.

This kind of performance is no stranger to us. At MagicPress, we take pride in having created a fast and reliable platform, and have carried out all necessary configuration and tweaks, so you never have to worry about your website speed.

The last step is to advise our client for further website optimization, if necessary. We profile your WordPress website, taking into account best web development practices and the previous results. This helps us find out what kind of improvements can be made to benefit your website in speed and performance further. In this case, we advised our client to optimize the website images and remove unnecessary plugins. Those changes led to the following improved result:

Load Time First Byte Start Render Size
18.664s 0.132s 5.176s  9.6MB

We have done the above process many times for our clients and can do the same for you, so don’t hesitate to ask us. However, if you prefer, there is always the option to migrate your WordPress website to MagicPress on your own. We have written a detailed article to guide you in the process.
